(sorry for starting a new topic. I couldn’t resist the title...)
So we just got back from the rehab vet who told us that Meg has NOT sprained her carpus after all. There is nothing wrong with her carpus at all. She has an excellent range of movement and no sign of any soft tissue injury. She does have a small scuff mark on one of her pads, as though from skidding to a halt perhaps (figures) and she thinks perhaps she bruised a toe or something and was stumbling from trying not to walk on it, but she is basically ABSOLUTELY FINE. So Misery Vet was not only a total DOWNER she was also totally WRONG. To be fair, she did not know Meg and did not therefore have anything to compare with, but why be fair, eh, when you can rant?! She also didn’t tell me I needed to ease off the gabapentin gradually, which I do actually know from here, though I had forgotten until the rehab vet reminded me.
Suffice to say we will not be going back to that vet but on the plus side the rehab vet was properly lovely and it’s SO reassuring to know we’ve got her to go to, and I trust her completely even if she does have a slightly unfortunate tendency to compare the MegaStar to her car.
So, six hours of driving, but the girls were great and the news is better than I could have dreamed. One thing, she did suggest, is that I might consider getting some wheels made for Meg, so we’ve got them on standby should she injure her paw/leg again etc. And also we can start to get her used to them, which will make any adjustment easier in the future. Don’t know if anyone has any thoughts on this?
Thanks got reading.

Ruby, Staffy, born June 2022, became a Tripawd, November 2023, adopted January 2024.
Also Angel Tripawd Meg (aka The Megastar), who died in April 2023, aged 14, after seven glorious years on three, and Angel Staffies Elsie Pie and Bille. In the pawprints of giants...
Well that's great news! I'm not sure about wheels, but I believe Schlomo (http://abrookly.....ipawds.com) was recently fitted for a sweet ride. 🙂 His Mom, Mascha, is really nice and hopefully will have some tips for you!

I loved life as a tripawd for over three years following right forelimb amputation due to an aggressive and recurrent hemangiopericytoma. I reclaimed my place among the gods and valkyries in Valhalla on November 11th, 2020. My parents miss me tremendously, but I know they'll keep me in their hearts forever... and don't worry, I've approved my mom's use of my Tripawds account.
WHEEEEEE! That's wonderful news! We love your physio therapist, that's terrific.
She also didn’t tell me I needed to ease off the gabapentin gradually, which I do actually know from here, though I had forgotten until the rehab vet reminded me.
Gah, I totally meant to ask you about that when you mentioned she put Meg on Gabapentin for one week. Yes, gradually going off it is best. Good job.
Carts can be a great thing for the right candidate. If the physio therapist suggests one for Meg then I say why not? People can jeopardize their dog's health when they put the Tripawd in a wheelchair without talking to a therapist first. Here's a blog post about wheelchairs and Tripawds, just some food for thought.
When she gets those wheels you'll have to pimp it out appropriately for a ride that's suitable for a MEG-A-STAR!

I'm not sure which to post on, how are you all doing? Has Meg gotten any rest? Have you? Is she feeling any better?
Was just thinking about you and hope you are all doing ok.

What an ordeal 😳 but I am ecstatic with joy hearing our cute Meg-A-Star is up and running (I bet, literally😉)
Stupid vet should get 🥚 on her face, in fact lots of 🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚
I am absolutely sure Meg would LOVE to throw them herself ☺️
At least your mecanic/physiotherapist was able to say nice words unrelated to cars in the end 🙄😉
Please, please, please don't disappear and post updates (photos and videos too) of the girls, we need our fix ☝🏼👌🏽
Sending you the biggest avalanche of kisses ever recorded and millions of cuddles to the girls and, of course, lots of slobbery kisses from above 😘😘😘😘🐮💫✨🌟🌹
